Tom Neuhaus has had a successful banking career spanning over four decades. He began as a loan officer at Farmersburg Savings Bank in 1975, worked as a manager at the same office until 2005, and then served as the Executive Vice President at the Monona office until his retirement in 2019. Tom has served as a FreedomBank director for the past 17 years.
Tom graduated from M-F-L High School and obtained his bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business in 1975 from Iowa State University. He also maintained real estate and insurance licenses until his retirement.
"Community banks in Northeast Iowa play an extremely vital role in the success of urban and rural areas," shared Tom. "FreedomBank has always been committed to leading our communities. We believe in supporting our communities from a financial standpoint for community projects and needs, as well as promoting active participation in community events and projects by our staff and board members."
Tom has learned valuable lessons during his banking career, including the importance of being a good listener and keeping an open mind when resolving issues. Neuhaus noted that the success of communities, customers, employees, and the bank as a whole depends on the willingness of many people to work together to achieve their individual and community goals.
Tom has been a trustee for the Central Community Hospital (now MercyOne) board for over 20 years. He recently retired from the Northeast Iowa Telephone Board after 21 years. He is still active on the FreedomBank, Monona Housing, and Probert Scholarship boards. Meanwhile, Tom and his wife enjoy traveling and outdoor activities during their retirement.
He continued, "I have enjoyed serving as a Director for many years, both during my active employment and early retirement years. I have always been passionate about FreedomBank and our customers, so being a Director allows me to continue pursuing those interests."
