Frequently Asked Questions
- Is there a cost to participate? No, Shred Day is completely free to the public as a service to our community.
- Do I have to be a FreedomBank customer to participate? No – everyone is welcome, whether or not they bank with us.
- Do I need an appointment? No.
- What kind of bag can I use? Grocery-style plastic or paper bags are fine. We’re limiting the amount each person can bring so the truck doesn’t fill up too quickly. If they ask about size, a paper box is a good reference – but they will need to take their boxes with them. We are not collecting boxes, and they cannot be shredded.
- Do I need to remove papers from envelopes? No. They can bring envelopes with papers inside, including window envelopes – all of that can be shredded.
- Can I watch my documents being shredded? Yes – customers are welcome to watch their materials go into the truck, if they’d like that extra peace of mind. There is a camera on the truck that shows the items being shredded. Watch the video here.
- Can I drop things off ahead of time? No. We aren’t able to store documents in advance due to the sensitive nature of the materials.
- Can I stay in my car? Yes! Staff will be available to help unload materials directly from vehicles. We want to keep things quick and convenient.
Due to space limitations, the shredding truck may reach capacity before the end of the event. For additional details or any questions, please contact Sara Hertrampf at (563) 245-2522.
