Adam Weigand, FreedomBank's Market President in Postville, Iowa, has been a FreedomBank director since 2019.
Adam's rural upbringing began on a diversified crop and livestock farm in East Central Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a minor in Business. After college, he worked in the swine business,
managing sow farms and site development in Missouri and Oklahoma. Additionally, he provided training and outreach for prospective contract growers in Kansas, Colorado, Texas, Iowa, and Illinois.
Adam's banking career began in 1999 as a junior lender in Ottawa, Kansas. Over the years, he gained extensive experience working with a wide range of loans, from small consumer loans to retail and larger commercial and agricultural loans. His journey
led him to Northeast Iowa, where he joined FreedomBank in 2013.
With the purchase of Farmers and Merchant Savings Bank in 2019, Adam had the opportunity to join the Board of Directors and serve on FreedomBank's Holding Company board and several other bank-wide committees. Over the years, Adam honed his banking
knowledge by attending several agriculture, commercial, and consumer lending schools, seminars, and the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Colorado Boulder.
"Community banks are one of the pillars of strong rural communities. We have the honor of supporting families, businesses and farms, sometimes through several generations," Adam said about banks' roles in rural Iowa.
Adam's dedication to community service is a cornerstone of his professional life. He has served the area in various capacities, contributing to several boards and committees. His involvement in organizations like 4-H, FFA, Upper Explorerland Regional
Planning Commission, and Clayton County Extension committees is a testament to his commitment to supporting youth and the community.
Adam's 30 years of business and banking experience have instilled in him a belief in the power of collaboration. He states, "We are all in this together. As a lender or director, the decisions that must be made are not always easy. However, the best
way through any situation is to understand what needs to be done, communicate it with clarity and integrity, and work together to solve problems. Then savor your success together!"
"Our Board of Directors strongly believes that we will only be successful if our communities are successful," noted Adam.
